Expanding the Edge of Knowledge to Banking Technologies

According to the Public Relations report of the National Informatics Corporation, the cooperation agreement was signed by Dr. "Jamshid Sabbagh zadeh", Vice-Chancellor of the Islamic Azad University at the Science and Research Unit, and Dr. "Alireza Mahyar", CEO of the National Informatics Corporation, with the aim of utilizing scientific capabilities and developing collaborations for implementing joint scientific and research projects in the field of information technology applications and innovation in the banking industry.

Dr. Alireza Mahyar, CEO of the National Informatics Corporation, congratulated the days of Rajab and the upcoming birth anniversary of Amir al-Mu'minin (AS) at the signing ceremony, saying: "Given the strategic position of the National Informatics Corporation, it is essential to benefit from the potential capacities of universities and innovative infrastructures."

He continued by stating that one of the gaps of the National Informatics Corporation group is the distance from universities and has strived to establish a good connection with the academic community in various fields including research, education, event organization, and the launch of innovation centers.

The CEO of the National Informatics Corporation, highlighting the necessity of activating the field of artificial intelligence in smart banking, said: "With the readiness announced by the Science and Research Unit, actions are planned in this area, including the establishment of an Innovation and Artificial Intelligence Academy by the National Informatics Corporation."

He also emphasized the importance of utilizing skilled and experienced human resources in subsidiary companies, noting: "More than 300 million transactions are processed daily in the banking network, which are managed by subsidiaries of the National Informatics Corporation, underscoring the need for network development and stability."

Dr. Mahyar stated their enthusiasm for attracting talented, elite, and young individuals, adding: "The country's payment network is a strategic issue and a priority for the system."

Furthermore, Dr. Abbas Memarnejad, Chairman of the Board of the National Informatics Corporation, also said in the ceremony: "Although the rate of electronic transactions was 82% before the Corona pandemic, it has now increased to 98%, with only a small portion of transactions taking place in branches. Given the volume of transactions, system stability is of great importance."

He added that the Central Bank has entrusted the National Informatics Corporation with the task of developing a roadmap for the use of artificial intelligence in the banking system, noting: "This responsibility is a significant task for the corporation, and we hope to carry out effective actions in this field in collaboration with the university."

During the ceremony, Dr. Jamshid Sabbagh zadeh, Vice-Chancellor of the Islamic Azad University at the Science and Research Unit, introduced the unit's scientific, research, and educational capacities, stating: "The Science and Research Unit welcomes research collaborations to assist the country's banking system."

He continued, mentioning that the unit has 50,000 students in various branches and is a leader in many fields with international recognition: "This academic unit is a pioneer in launching and operating in various scientific and research fields in the country, and currently, several faculty members and students are actively engaged in artificial intelligence and quantum technologies, with significant work done in these fields at the Science and Research Unit."

It is worth noting that the mutual cooperation agreement includes joint collaboration areas, benefiting from each other's facilities and capacities, implementing research-application projects with technical knowledge transfer, guiding and supporting postgraduate theses in line with the company's research needs through research grants, and cooperation for laboratory services in joint projects.

The implementation of educational and workshop courses, including Cooperative Education and Training (Co-op), organizing joint conferences, specialized meetings, seminars, and scientific, educational, national, and international workshops, mutual cooperation in identifying innovative ideas, and specialized company support for the university to transform business ideas into practical products related to the banking system are among the other topics addressed in this memorandum of understanding.
