Banking System Must Achieve a Desirable Level in Information Infrastructure

According to the Public Relations report of the National Informatics Corporation, Seyyed Jafar Mortezavian, in a radio program interview on Tuesday, stressed the requirements for intelligent banking, highlighting that some banks still rely on outdated infrastructures. He underscored the importance of preparing bank personnel to use AI technologies, asserting that the banking system should be adequately equipped in terms of information infrastructure to achieve an optimal level.

Mortezavian observed a trend where banks, traditionally offering financial services in conventional ways, are now proactively seeking to understand and anticipate future customer demands from the banking system. He stated that banks, as critical financial institutions providing essential services to society, must consider the changes brought about by emerging technologies like AI.

He added that to employ these technologies in financial and monetary institutions, it is essential to focus on human capital readiness and the necessary infrastructure development. If customer services are to be offered based on new approaches, understanding and enhancing customer awareness for using these services is crucial.

Mortezavian emphasized that customers must be familiar with the new culture and capabilities presented, necessitating cultural development among new generations who interact daily with these technologies. Older generations should also be involved in this important aspect.

Highlighting the significance of legislation by regulators in the financial sector for such innovations, Mortezavian mentioned that laws should evolve in alignment with these developments. Regulators must pay attention to this aspect.

He continued, stating that banks should also coordinate their actions and support, providing information aligned with what customers need.

In his concluding remarks, Mortezaeean asserted that Iran's banks have recently aligned with the banking systems of other countries in adopting modern technologies and have developed the necessary technology and ecosystem in the country. However, he noted that leveraging new technologies in the banking system requires the formulation of appropriate laws, and regulatory bodies should establish the necessary regulations for this sector.
